When I found Elandria, who's stock image I have used for this piece, I was very taken with her look, and wanted the finished painting to do justice to her, whilst incorperating my own style. Although I wish I could have captured a better likeness, I felt the painting had attained the right feel to it, and I do struggle to get a likeness when painting smaller faces.
When working from a photograph, there comes a time when it is put away, and I paint with out any reference, just me, the paint and loads of loud music, (I must be one of the few parents who gets told off by the children for playing my music too loud, and playing one track over and over)
It is at this time that the painting becomes mine, so to speak, and when things like the little dragon appear, by the way Elandria, he needs a name, and I think you should choose it.
I hope Elandria likes it, she is a beautiful model, and I will definately be looking to use her stock again, I will also add a link, if I can work out how, but if you are looking for great costumes, poses and elegance, I suggest you check out her stuff.
Wow, it's beautiful! The little dragon is adorable, and I love how detailed the picture is. Her face looks just like a photograph.
This is definitely going into my faves!
Oh thank you, 'm so glad you like it, and a little relieved. Next time I want to work bigger, much bigger, and I love the new stock, you were a great model to work with and your pictures and costumes just get better. Thanks for the link instructions.
